Sports Psychology Certificate Course Concludes Successfully

The National Sports College (NSC)–Winneba, in collaboration with the National Sports Authority (NSA), have successfully concluded a five-day certificate course in Sports Psychology at the Accra Sports Stadium. The program, which focused on the importance of mental resilience in athletic performance, attracted seventy participants from the sports industry and institutions.

Special Guest of Honour, Hon. Kofi Iddie Adams, Minister for Sports and Recreation, encouraged participants to apply their knowledge to support athletes, emphasizing the role of psychological training in overcoming challenges like stage fright and intimidation. NSA Acting Director General Yaw Ampofo Ankrah praised the initiative as a historic step toward enhancing sports development in Ghana.

Facilitated by Dr. Elvis Hagan Jnr. and Dr. Medina Srem-Sai, the course addressed Ghana’s need for psychological training in sports. Given its success, organizers plan to hold another session later in the year to further promote mental training in athletics.
